Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism Policy for the Journal of Humanistic Studies and Social Dynamics (JHSSD)
- Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the unethical practice of using someone else’s work, ideas, or expressions without proper acknowledgment. It includes but is not limited to copying text, data, images, or ideas from another work, whether published or unpublished, without giving appropriate credit.
- Types of Plagiarism
The Journal of Humanistic Studies and Social Dynamics (JHSSD) recognizes the following types of plagiarism:
Direct Plagiarism: Copying text or content from another source word-for-word without quotation marks or citation.
Self-Plagiarism: Reusing one’s own previously published content without proper citation or acknowledgment.
Mosaic Plagiarism: Paraphrasing another’s work without proper attribution or combining phrases or text from various sources without credit.
Accidental Plagiarism: Unintended failure to cite sources properly or paraphrase adequately, which still constitutes plagiarism.
- Anti-Plagiarism Measures
All submissions to JHSSD undergo a thorough plagiarism check using reputable plagiarism detection tools before review. If the similarity index exceeds 15 %, the manuscript may be rejected outright or sent back for revision and resubmission after appropriate citations and corrections.
- Author’s Responsibilities
Authors submitting manuscripts to JHSSD must ensure:
The work is original and has not been published elsewhere.
Proper citation and acknowledgment of all sources, including data, images, and ideas.
Any reused material (e.g., figures, text) from previously published work is cited appropriately.
Permission is obtained for copyrighted material.
- Consequences of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected before publication:
The manuscript will be rejected immediately.
The authors will be notified, and they may be banned from future submissions.
If plagiarism is detected after publication:
The article may be retracted from the journal.
A notice of retraction will be published.
The authors' institutions may be informed about the unethical conduct.
- Appeals and Disputes
Authors have the right to appeal decisions related to plagiarism. The editorial board will review the case, and their decision will be final.
- Updates to Policy
JHSSD reserves the right to update this policy at any time. All updates will be communicated through the journal’s official website.
