Publication Ethics
Publication Ethics Policy for the Journal of Humanistic Studies and Social Dynamics (JHSSD)
The Journal of Humanistic Studies and Social Dynamics (JHSSD) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and ensuring the integrity of the academic record. The journal follows the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expects authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher to adhere to ethical principles in all aspects of the publication process.
- Author Responsibilities
Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and free from plagiarism. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be provided. Authors should not submit manuscripts that are entirely or partially copied from other works without appropriate attribution.
Multiple Submissions: Authors should not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal. JHSSD does not accept duplicate publications.
Authorship: Authorship should accurately reflect individuals' contributions to the work. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. The corresponding author should ensure that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission.
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, including financial, personal, or institutional relationships that might influence the research results or interpretation.
Data Integrity and Access: Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the data and research findings presented in their manuscripts. Upon request, authors should be prepared to provide raw data and grant access to the research materials if needed for verification purposes.
Ethical Research Practices: Research involving human participants or animals must comply with ethical guidelines, including obtaining informed consent from participants and approval from relevant ethical review boards. A statement confirming ethical approval should be included in the manuscript.
- Editorial Responsibilities
Fair and Impartial Decision Making: Editors are responsible for deciding which articles to accept or reject based on their intellectual merit, relevance to the journal's scope, and adherence to ethical standards. Editors should evaluate manuscripts impartially, without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, or institutional affiliation.
Confidentiality: Editors must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. They should not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, or other editorial team members involved in the publication process.
Conflict of Interest: Editors should avoid handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative, or personal relationships with any of the authors. In such cases, editors should delegate the review process to another qualified member of the editorial board.
Handling Ethical Misconduct: Editors are responsible for investigating any suspected ethical violations, such as plagiarism, data manipulation, or unethical research practices. If misconduct is confirmed, the editorial board may reject the manuscript or retract the published article, and appropriate actions will be taken to address the issue.
- Reviewer Responsibilities
Contribution to Editorial Decision: Reviewers play a critical role in the peer-review process, helping to ensure the quality and integrity of published articles. Reviewers should provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback to assist authors in improving their work.
Confidentiality: Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers should not share, discuss, or disclose the content of the manuscript with others, except as authorized by the editor.
Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, with constructive criticism and a focus on improving the quality of the manuscript. Personal criticism of the authors is not acceptable.
Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should ensure that relevant work by other authors is appropriately cited. If a reviewer identifies unacknowledged work or any form of plagiarism, they should inform the editor.
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers should disclose any conflicts of interest that could affect their ability to provide an impartial review. If such a conflict exists, the reviewer should recuse themselves from the review process.
- Publisher Responsibilities (Notation Publishing)
Ethical Oversight: Notation Publishing is responsible for ensuring that all articles published in JHSSD adhere to ethical publishing standards. The publisher works closely with the editors, reviewers, and authors to resolve any ethical issues that may arise.
Corrections and Retractions: In cases where significant errors, ethical misconduct, or violations of publication ethics are identified in a published article, the publisher will work with the editors to publish corrections or retractions. Retractions will be clearly marked and linked to the original article, explaining the reasons for the retraction.
Open Access and Access to Content: JHSSD follows an open-access publishing model, ensuring that all published content is freely available to readers. The publisher ensures that the articles remain accessible and protected under the appropriate licensing (e.g., Creative Commons).
Handling of Complaints and Appeals: Notation Publishing has a clear process for handling complaints and appeals. Authors, reviewers, or readers who have concerns about the ethical aspects of an article can submit their complaints to the editorial office for investigation. The publisher and editorial board will ensure a fair and transparent resolution process.
- Ethical Violations and Misconduct
Plagiarism: If plagiarism is detected, either before or after publication, JHSSD will take appropriate actions. Manuscripts with significant plagiarism will be rejected or retracted.
Duplicate Publication: Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals is considered unethical. If detected, JHSSD will reject or retract the manuscript and may inform the authors' institutions.
Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern: When errors or ethical issues are identified in published articles, the journal will issue appropriate corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern. These will be clearly marked and linked to the original article.
